Bridgestone Americas Unveils Commercial Tire with 70% Sustainable Materials

Date:2025/5/16
At the WasteExpo in Las Vegas, Bridgestone Americas showcased a groundbreaking commercial tire containing 70% recycled and renewable materials—37% renewable and 33% recycled—setting a new industry benchmark. The tire has earned ISCC PLUS certification, making it the company's first waste-specific tire to receive this internationally recognized sustainability credential.

Developed based on the Bridgestone M870 model for urban waste collection vehicles, the demonstration tire incorporates eco-friendly materials such as circular synthetic rubber and recycled carbon black through a mass balance production approach. Bridgestone announced that a limited batch will enter fleet testing later this month.

Steve Hoeft, President of the Commercial Truck Group at Bridgestone Americas, emphasized that this is not a conceptual prototype but an operational innovation, demonstrating the company's capability to support customers in achieving sustainability targets.

Concurrently, Bridgestone introduced its new Drive-Over intelligent tire monitoring system. Featuring specialized measurement devices, the system automatically captures tread depth data, providing fleets with precise wear analysis to optimize maintenance schedules.
